Mission: Hope currently serves a group of villages on a stretch of the Rio Grande de Matagalpa. Life is extremely difficult in this area due to a lack of access to roads. The closest roads are over an hour away by boat, and the closest airport is a six-hour boat ride. The area has also been exacerbated by annual flooding and two major hurricanes in the last 20 years. Although this village is vulnerable, the people within it are resilient. Despite the hardships, farmers continue to plant, kids continue going to school, and the villages continue to gather for worship.
