Please join us in praying for the unrest that continues to spread in Nicaragua!

At least 300 people have been killed and thousands injured in protests that began in April. These protests started as a reaction to cuts in pensions, which President Ortega imposed. He later reversed the cuts, but other grievances, including corruption, presidential power grabs and the elevation of Mr. Ortega’s wife, Rosario Murillo, to the vice-presidency, continue to inspire protests.

Currently, our work up-river is not directly affected by the protests. However, with the call for government reform, inflation has started to spread across the country which does affect the villages we serve. Our staff in Nicaragua are safe but are surrounded by the violence and have friends that were killed in the protests.

Please continue to pray for everyone in Nicaragua. Pray that those who would use this time for evil purposes would be thwarted and would turn their hearts to Jesus. Pray for peaceful protests and understanding from the government. Pray that conversations take place about how to move forward to listen to the people of Nicaragua.
