2025 Nicaragua Wins. A Year of Relief and Renewed Strength

The past year brought immense challenges to Nicaragua’s remote upriver communities, yet it also revealed incredible resilience and hope. Because of the generosity of donors and the dedication of local leaders, families received the support they needed during moments of crisis.

What follows highlights just five of the many wins taking place across Nicaragua. These stories are only a glimpse of how your partnership is making a lasting difference.

Relief Efforts. Standing With Families After Devastating Floods

When severe flooding swept through poor upriver villages, families lost crops, livestock, and their primary means of survival. These communities are extremely remote. Reaching them requires long, difficult boat trips through complex river systems.

Even so, through God’s grace, the perseverance of MH staff, and the generosity of supporters, we delivered 200 packets of food supplies and 100 packets of seeds to help families replant and recover.

One woman who received seeds shared that her family is deeply grateful. She explained that their new corn and wheat crops are already changing their family’s situation.

If future floods spare their land, they are hopeful these crops will lead to a fruitful harvest and a stronger future.

Health Program. Bringing Care to Remote Communities

In January 2025, the MH upriver clinic hosted a dentist who treated 137 patients. For many, this was critical relief from long standing dental pain.

The micro pharmacy program continued to serve a dozen remote communities by providing affordable medicines.

This year, MH trained 15 pharmacy dispensers and community health workers to prevent and treat common illnesses in the region. In partnership with the Ministry of Health, our micro pharmacy director also made two supervisory visits to 14 pharmacies, and all licenses were renewed by the government.

At the upriver clinic, our team, including a government doctor, nurse, and MH’s clinic and pharmacy coordinator, cared for an average of 480 patients each month.

Care was provided both at the clinic and during community visits, ensuring that even the most isolated families received essential support.

Churches. Equipping Leaders to Strengthen Their Communities

At the start of 2025, forty church leaders from four denominations and five congregations celebrated their graduation from the Church Transformation Training Program. Each leader received a diploma certificate marking their commitment to serve and lead well.

A new cycle of the program began in August with 35 enthusiastic leaders from nine congregations. Heavy rains and muddy paths did not deter them.

They traveled to a centrally located church to complete their lessons and share a meal together. They now look forward to the remaining nine lessons that will equip them to impact their communities even more deeply.

As churches completed their training, MH partnered with them to design and launch outreach projects focused on caring for the most vulnerable. Youth, small children, and the elderly are the beneficiaries of these new church led initiatives.

Looking Ahead. Your Support Is Fueling Even More Wins

These stories represent only a fraction of the impact unfolding in Nicaragua. Because of your generosity, families are recovering from disaster, patients are receiving essential care, and church leaders are stepping forward to serve their communities with renewed vision.

Thank you for standing with these villages. With your continued partnership, even more restoration and hope are on the way.
