2025 Indonesia Wins. A Year of Growth, Unity, and Lasting Impact

They are only a small glimpse of the many victories happening every day because of your investment and the dedication of local leaders.

1. Measuring Significant Impact in Lombok

At the end of 2024, our work concluded in 10 villages in Salut, Lombok. In the months that followed, we completed one of our most extensive household surveys ever, giving us a clear picture of the transformation that had taken place.

Our staff had watched these changes unfold firsthand, and the survey results confirmed what they already knew.

Challenges that once defined daily life—child malnutrition, extreme poverty, lack of clean drinking water, and children missing out on school—had been nearly eliminated by endline.

These outcomes serve as a powerful testament to sustained partnership, community effort, and God’s faithfulness.

2. Papuan Churches Rising in Unity and Strength

In Papua, a region often marked by political tensions and a history of conflict, we’ve witnessed a moving display of unity among our 16 church partners.

This year, 46 church leaders received training on counseling and family development. These lessons are helping reduce domestic abuse and marital conflict in their congregations.

Additionally, churches participated in financial literacy and agricultural programs and have begun passing this knowledge on to their communities as an act of service. Pastors are also engaging in ongoing training to strengthen Biblical literacy and deepen their preaching effectiveness.

This momentum shows how powerfully the local church can shape its community when equipped and unified.

3. Community Health Workers in Lombok Take the Lead

After completing the latest survey round in Lombok, we had the meaningful opportunity to review data with local health post workers.

Their enthusiasm quickly turned into action as they took the lead in developing strategies to continue positive trends.

Plans now in motion include health post gardens, dengue-prevention programs for rainy season, and nutrition workshops for families with young children. While the programs themselves are exciting, the greatest win is seeing these teams fully embrace ownership.

Their growing confidence and determination are exactly what make sustainable change possible long after our work is complete.

4. Holistic Programs Flourish in Sumba

Southwest Sumba invited us in because of its extremely high rates of stunting and malnutrition. Through close partnership with local leaders, we successfully reduced stunting, but this was never the final goal. Our long-term vision has always been holistic community development.

This past year, that vision took root in powerful ways.

Commercial gardens were launched. Thirty-five savings groups met consistently. Eight churches partnered in ongoing monthly gatherings.

Parents learned about child rights and family development. Children participated in programs on leadership, safety, digital literacy, and values.

The seeds planted in Sumba are growing into something vibrant and life-giving.

5. Child Protection Efforts in Bali Expand Their Reach

Child protection has been a priority since we first entered Bali, where sex trafficking quickly surfaced as a major risk. Working together with village leaders, we implemented prevention strategies that significantly lowered the threat.

In the past year, we broadened our focus to address other forms of vulnerability affecting children. Focus group discussions revealed issues such as bullying, violence, online exploitation, and forced labor. Families and leaders responded with determination.

Through parent education, child vocational training, advocacy for local legislation, and several community-led initiatives, we’ve worked side-by-side to create a safer environment where every child can thrive.
